Busy November, a Fun December - Star City Progress Report

Busy November, a Fun December - Star City Progress Report

Hey internet!

It's been a busy November for me.

For my day job as a materials engineering PhD at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I spent the month preparing for my Comprehensive Exam. This is basically the big test that officially grants you status as a PhD Candidate, so it's a Big F@!king Deal.

As previously mentioned, I was pleased with my first professional edit of Star City. I finished the much improved 5th draft. I'm hoping for positive querying results in December.

For the past couple of weeks, I've tried a new idea - a Twitter account parodying the YA genre. It's @RealisticYAPlot. I hope to not only make readers smile, but also raise awareness of important issues with YA. These include #WeNeedDiverseBooks as well the very problematic depictions of what constitutes healthy relationships *cough* Twilight *cough*.

Therefore, I'm officially making @RealisticYAPlot a permanent thing. In fact, to celebrate the holiday season, we're starting "25 Days of #RealisticYA Romance", where we parody all forms of YA romance stories.

Have a wonderful holiday season and happy reading!
