Progress & Changes
As I'd mentioned before, the manuscript of my first novel, Star City, is currently getting worked on by a freelance editor. I got about 3 weeks of "free time" when I can finally take a break from Star City. I'd been working on the manuscript for over a year; it's good to pause and look at a bigger picture of how I'm doing as a writer.
I also just attended the Chicago Writers Conference and the Nebraska Writers Guild Fall Conference. I learned a lot about writing and the business of publishing.
Here's my task lists that I hope to achieve before I resume Star City work next month:
- Improve my web presence. I got a lot of great ideas about building a brand and engaging with potential readers from the conferences. So, pardon the construction dust as I construct a better website and social media platform.
- Start new novel. This would be my second project, tentatively titled The Last Prince. I'm eager to try something new and further improve my writing skills.
- Search for new places to query. I want to be ready for my 2nd round of submissions for Star City as soon as the new draft is finished. It's not only literary agencies this time, but I also want to submit to some indie publishers as well.
I hope to keep everyone updated on my progress. If you are a writer, how did you use your "break time" while your work was being edited?
